Does anyone have certain shoes they prefer? Salomon Speedcross and Inov-8 Mudclaws seem popular on the internet, but does anyone dislike cleats because they slip on hard surfaces? Do cleats really help? I've been wearing tennis shoes for the last couple of years, and have had a couple of slips on rock/mud and started wondering if I should get something different.

Note-I save my high-heels for the weekend/evenings, so the height advantage they'd give me isn't worth the effort (5'10 vs 6'1 in stilettos).

The Inno-8 Mudclaws are fine on hard surfaces, the cleats are softer. and they dont look like football shoes

The Salomon's might be nice, but all that fucking Rudy Project spamming has made me decide not to buy any no matter how good they actually are.

Say no to spamming!

I wear my old raggedy football cleats from college.

I particularly like how they fling clumps of dirt and grass at ROs when I peel out at the start of a stage. They work really well EXCEPT on wet wooden surfaces like planks and stairs. At that point I might as well be standing on marbles.

People 'round here sure love them some Salomons tho.

Adidas Thrasher for me.  Cool, high tech, aggressive, and one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.  Best part is that they're only $50 so I can get three pairs for the price of one pair of Salomons.  And they come with tactical laces that can be used to rig a snare, set up a lean to, garrote somebody, or tie a bitch up.

The Solomons are comfier than the Mudclaws but also easier to roll an ankle. Both grip a lot better on wet wood than regular cleats. Both soles wear out rapidly.

Use the rules. Don't DQ someone who doesn't do anything DQable. -- Da Beard.

Yep I got a couple of pairs of those as well, they are discountinued now and can be found shoe carnival and online pretty cheap, pretty aggressive tread

best part is you don't have to look like a rudy douche bag in them

real shoe strings instead of the fucked up draw string shit

not goofy and narrow like the speedcross, these fit like normal shoes

hell I may just start my own rudy club, but with smith optics and adidas shoes and hats......nevermind I can't spam that well

Best shoe/boot i ever owned were Puma grass cats. I wore a number of pairs of those for the best part of a decade and in 30 years of football they were the best all around footwear i ever owned. Hard or soft ground, wet or dry they were the best and they werent hard on my feet either.
