GMs are dumb. They reach a certain plateau and basically quit. If GMs has any REAL competitive drive they would lobby the BoD to create yet another class, Ultimate Supreme Master.

Efficient field course movement won't help much with the M/GM classification goal. It will help with the stated match top ten goal.

GM classifier skillz (most important to least): alphas, transitions, splits, reload, draw

The main difference between 85% and 100% is turning off your targeting computer and using the Force.

So it sounds like I need to hero or zero every classifier from here on out?

I noticed in practicing some classifiers over the past month that most often a ton of As will make up for a slow reload. Moving between targets quick is the other big time killer. I am working on these as well, but the reload being slow as hell live eats me up inside.

Thanks for the words.

It sounds to me like you're focusing on classifier scores over match performance. Is your goal to be a paper GM?

Classifier percentage has a .8-.9 correlation coefficient to match performance.

The meme that its one or the other isn't well supported by data.

The nice part about being a GM is that you have that paper forever.

It seems to me that getting to a level of skill that can bust out 100% scores on classifiers is a good thing. Even the "paper" GMs I know are pretty good at shooting.

Spent about one hour dryfiring tonight. Lots of reload shit, and some El Prez. Long day so felt pretty tired. When I was missing the magwell and tossing mags I felt it was time to quit.

Also loaded 300 rds on the 650 while I was resting from my exertions.

Could almost make the 3.5sec par time on the El Prez and only if I disregarded sights. Reloads when i didn't fuck up bad were right near 1s. Not in the El prez, mind. Just on their own. Gotta get gooder at reloads during a drill.

When I was 12 years old I started Judo.  My Sensei told me to make black belt, I would have to train 2 days a week, every week for 10 years.

He told me if I trained 3 times a week it would take me 15 years.  4 x per week, 20; if I trained every day never.

He said I had to be patient.....

So I did it for a year and said fuck-it and quit.  I quit his soccer team too.

Fuck that guy, he was  dick.  What they hell does any of that shit mean anyway.  I'm with you Twinkie..train hard; go hard or go home, FTW!

"paper GM" is a term by jeslous weeny's who can't shoot GM classifier scores.

pretty much the hero or zero thing works great.. either you get your 100 or something above 95 or it doesn't count :) ... if you get a 92 it will suck, or god forbid something high 80's that still counts but screws up your percentage.

Paper Tigers are those guys who shoot the qualifiers over and over until they hit one and turn that one in. Doesn't bug me at all I don't give a shit what your class is as long as you finish behind me in the overall.  But I guess there are the GM worshipers out there who can't tell the difference and Paper or not it looks the same on your resume.

Qualifiers.. since when did we have to qualify for anything...last time i shot it was a classifier.... :)

even your "paper" GM's seem to finish better than most shooters at a match

Dot drill rationale is to build trigger control, which is an area I feel I lack. Also builds the discipline to keep performing in a reliable fashion. Also, Yard Sale is old as fuck (right?) so dots weren't invented back when he made GM.

Can you learn trigger control by shooting tough shots on USPSA targets??? Like 20 yard partials, 25 yard mini poppers, etc?

Perhaps. What exactly is wrong with doing it with the Dots other than it not being an exact replica of a USPSA situation? You might not know, but I only have a range membership at a dump with barely functional target stands. No steel, no wall sections, probably a dozen barrels.

Do you think I should be doing some other standard exercise to really focus on trigger control and discipline? I also want to track my progress and end up with some measurable gain.

I think they accomplish the same thing.
