Why not work specific skills with drills having a greater degree of specificity?

I'm getting a little tired of all the BS troll behavior around here.  The guy wants to do his best in a pretty fun sport and you fuckers are being real juvenile about it.  Twinkie, I'm going to give you two solid pieces of advice that I know if you follow you will reach your goals.  Through my extensive research (reading everything I can), talking wtih some of the best shooters in the world, attending classes, shooting matches, etc. I've learned what it takes to perform well at Practical Shooting.  The same formula I have used to turn msyelf into a pretty big deal in the local circuit; the same thing every top shooter has used...so what is it, what is that will make you win; what will get you a GM card; what will have B class losers following you around at the match, asking you the secret.  Here it is:  do what works for you and see what you need to see.  BOOM, your welcome.

Why not practice practically?

Why not work specific skills with drills having a greater degree of specificity?

GOALS

  1. Grand Master (Production) in 2015.
  2. Master (Production) 2014/1st Q 2015.
  3. Top Ten Finish in a Sectional or Higher Match.

TARGETS

  • El Presidente with 100% HF by end of 2014 "warmed up."
  • Dot Drill at 5 yds 100%, cold by end of 2014.
  • Sub 1s reload consistently, static.

I thought I would start keeping a range log online as my attempts to do it on paper failed due to being a lazy bastard who hates writing and can't keep from losing a diary. I might also bring some modicum of amusement to the hyenas around here. Anyhow...

You have five posts and you're getting a little tired already?  Perhaps you should SMEar yourself back to PF where you can have serious (ly moderated) discourse on what other people should do.  Here's a bag of dicks as a parting gift.  EABOD!

Dots have helped me a lot. After doing them for a month or two I was able to figure out how to watch the sites and control the trigger much better than I had been. At the MFCEO's class I was unable to consistently hit a 25 yard popper and now it's no longer an issue. Speed may need to improve but at least the accuracy is there.

I do them as a warm-up and I end with them for every range session.

He told me if I trained 3 times a week it would take me 15 years. 4 x per week, 20; if I trained every day never.

He said I had to be patient.....

As a tardo that can wail on a trigger I have found the dots to be very helpful.

I say this as a guy who shoots a local that puts a shitload of steel out at 15-30 yards.

Did 30 minutes draw practice this morning. Got some nice reps in even if they were a bit over 1s.

No dry fire this evening, due to being tired. Spent an hour on the trails near my place exercising.

Did an hour this AM. Draws @7 in .6. That's about the point my wheels fall off and I can't be sure of an A or proper grip. At .70 I'm good.

More reloads, and some El Prez. Realized I've been hesitating just a tad after shot 6 and before reload. Consciously tried to train that out today. Partial success, will try more tonight or tomorrow. That cut out .1 or .2 easily. Still having some trouble making the reload. This drill tires me out right quick if I'm putting my all into it. When I just go through the motions things are absolute shit.
