Ok, I've been thinking about next season already and trying to start planning my strategies for next season. I was wondering what goals others have been thinking about/planning to achieve for next season.

Not the typical "I'm gonna shoot more local or major matches" or " I want to practice more than 2 times a week" kind of stuff....

I'm talking about real tangible goals that you really want to achieve for next season.

A few of mine include:

1. I'm going to work more on my long distance game at much faster speed than I currently have. My speed of transitions and shot splits are too slow in my opinion and I tend to hang on the sights more than I should on 25yd and further targets. Building more confidence to shoot distance at speed is a huge goal for me.

2. I'm really going to train hard on steel. I'm confident in my ability to accurately call shots and make the hits, but I'm not as confident at doing it FAST and ON COMMAND every single time. I need to focus on what sight pictures and target focus I need (and nothing more) to accurately hit steel at much faster pace.

3. Attaining GM in both production division and limited division is a big goal of mine. Solely a personal goal but important to me.

4. Finishing top 10 at Single Stack Nationals is a huge goal and probably one of the most important. However, I don't want to put so much influence on it that I break myself mentally and I lose sight of the most important component to attaining it in the first place....Shooting my own game and nothing more or less.

What are some of your goals?

I'm actually struggling with this right now. Don't know have a clue yet. I'm hoping over the Holidays to get the down time necessary to set some goals, then figure out realistic training plan to get me there.

Make A class in Steel Challenge
BJ like Matt P. gets before a match
Host a successful state championship steel challenge match

I think I can pull off 1 and 3 but number 2 may be tough.

Visualize the damned A zone. Most of the time when I don't hit it, it's because I'm shooting at brown instead of A. I would like to knock that shit off.

Attend either the Rocky Mountain or Midwest regional ICORE matches.

Quit staring down the front sight on the draw like it's some kind of endurance contest. If I can recover from a shot in .2 of a second there's no reason to spend more than that figuring out whether or not my sights are lined up good.

Make M Class by the end of the year.

Get classifier (ie. Standing reloads) reloads in matches consistently under 1.10
Become more accurate, work on accuracy 50% of the time in live fire
OWN both SHO/WHO stages

2015 GOALS

Continue to dry fire for at least an hour 3x's weekly using Skills and Drills making the par times consistently.

Continue live fire at least 200 rounds 2x's weekly working on shot calling and accuracy with an emphasis on partials, long shots, barricades and awkward positions.

Stick with one platform for an entire year.......

The results should take care of themselves.

Work on moving faster on field courses. Slower than molasses now.
Dry fire at least 3 times/week consistently with MFCEO's book
Do planned and organized live fire practice at least onxe a week
Make A class in production by the end of the season (lowly C class now)
Shoot the Indiana state match.

Not as lofty as some but gotta start somewhere.

1. Hope first and subsequent matches have enough people participating in Prod. to meet the minimum threshold.

2. If 1 fails, try to beat and embarass everyone in Standard div. with my lowly 85b

3. Practice a lot during winter and break my range's rules about no holsters by going when there's nobody else.

Deliberate, then obliterate.™
