This may not be news to anyone, or it may be.

It's not a scandal on par with PVH or Russo, but I do find it annoying and somewhat dishonest.

So all of a sudden a bunch of people are switching to the P320 because it's the greatest polymer pistol ever and has a great trigger and blah, blah, blah....

Now it seems like a lot of those people are "sending" their guns to Bruce Gray to get them tuned to make that great trigger even greater! New sights! Tuning!

Maybe that's a bunch of bullshit. Maybe those people were selected to receive the guns for free from Bruce so they could go online in the various forums and at the various matches to talk up the P320 and convince everyone that it's the best thing ever. Maybe this is all some kind of a ruse to get people to buy the new Sig?

I honestly don't understand why Sig feels they have to do this - people love their guns anyway - the Timmies can't get enough of them because S.O.G. and all the other acronyms...

But it annoys me that people (and I know at least a couple are on this forum) would pretend to be impartial and profess their love for this "newest, latest" gun because it was given to them for free and not because it actually is.

If you get something for free - you really should give full disclosure and tell people that before you start telling them how wonderful that something is...

Sponsored shooters getting free guns in return for publicity for the manufacturer?  Damn lies I say.

They do, but they don't usually hide the fact that they are being sponsored or act like they didn't get the gun for free.

That's what I find "sneaky" about all this, which doesn't make a lot of sense considering that Sig doesn't really need the help selling their guns.

The only issue I see is in determining who is a sponsored shooter.  It's easy to tell Max is.  But what about guys that don't have SIG emblazoned across their chest?  When I hear Max talking about the latest SIG, or Robbie about a Sprinfield, I am skeptical.  I don't assume they are lying, but I know they are paid to promote a product.

a similiar thing would be the way Sony used actors to give movie reviews a few years ago.  They presented it as if it was just interviews of random movie goers.

Is Tim sponsored by SIG?

Why else would someone shoot a P320?

Sig definitely needs help in selling guns. Who doesn't?

I see nothing wrong with being a paid endorser of a product, but a lot wrong with not disclosing how you obtained a product you are endorsing or reviewing.

It is, though I think the issue here is the lack of disclosure.

This is also why 99% of "reviews" you see in the gun world are bs: you will never get an honest review when shits given out for free or at a steep discount.

Tanfo and CZ seem more than capable of selling every worthwhile pistol they bring into the US even with their shit marketing.

Polymer, striker-fired pistols are a dime a dozen. Today's new hotness is tomorrow's old and busted. Glock, XD, VP9, PPQ, FNS, P320, … Those pistols are cheap as hell to make thanks to the plastic frame and simple fire control, which is great for the manufacturer.

Any decent shooter that cares more about shooting well than money isn't going to shoot a POS.  Gunwriters obviously are from the other camp.

P320 I paid for and then sold seemed pretty good.

OK smartguy.

If I just go to this webpage I should find out exactly who is on the team right? http://grayguns.com/

Wrong - there is no mention of a team there.

If 320 is so great, then wtf

To that end, I fired 12 groups from Roy’s gun at fifty yards off bags today, using both 115 and 124 grain Hornady XTP’s. Interestingly, Roy’s pistol consistently dumps the first manually cycled round WAY low and right, about 5″ out of the core group. This indicates some lockup and slide to frame fit issues we’ll deal with when we build these up.

However, I am not nearly interested in the gun as in finding out if MM is really using vs just promoting it. Those of you on USPSA circuit, has he shot a match with it?

Any sponsored shooter, or any shooter that LIKES a product thinks its the best or they wouldn't be shooting it, therefore, it's simple, they try to sell everyone else that their decision is best, just look at ANY guy with a new car and ask him why he chose it.

Bottom line is, the gun has a good factory trigger, it doesn't give you a click every shot like it does when it comes back from bruce, He's made top notch sig's ( and other DA/SA guns for years)  I don' t like the feel of the gun, it just doesn't fit my hand, and the trigger feels cheap, light, but cheap. but i have no doubt it will be reliable and fit many folks hand.  do you NEED a 300 action job, no, if you can afford it is it cool, well duh.

Everybody wants a free gun, but there IS NO FREE LUNCH, what can you do to earn that gun? the match fees?  etc.
