Your mags are the exception, not the rule.  Most aren't getting 21 with STI or SV tubes.

You're doing it wrong then. Shit is easy

Ok... are we glossing over this? What the fuck.

Hit the mag release, lose a toe. Tap rack bang? Not anymore. Can't sit. Can't draw gun in a fight. Which genius took out student loans for ITT Tech to learn how to design this..?

Its reversible. Flip it over and stow the blade in the handle when not in use.

Don't waste your money on the MBX mag tubes. I pulled out the MBX guts and out it in my SV tube and got the same extra rou d for 30+1 where I haven't been able to accomplish with my arrendondo follower.

You should be running the SV follower anyway. Those are the tits.

The aluminum SV kept falling over and dumping a round. Didn't try bending the spring like MBX does though.

Weird. Both of my SV spring/follower kits have been great. I get 21 in those mags (20 reloadable)

Yeah because old style 9mm SV tubes are growing on trees.

Okay, so I did a experiment which was: trade the guts from my SV 40 mags with guts from new MBX 40 mags, check capacity; trade guts from my SV Supercomp long mag with guts from new MBX big stick, check capacity. Results:

  • Old-style SV 40 mag body, MBX spring/follower, Dawson SNL pad: still seats 21 rounds easier than the MBX.
  • MBX 40 mag body, Taran's spring/follower, MBX pad: barely seats 21, still iffy for starting a stage, might crack a plastic grip.

MBX spring bottoms are so wide/square, they really don't fit in Dawson pad the right way, might get even easier 21 rounds if you bend to fit.

  • Old-style SV Supercomp/9mm body, MBX spring/follower, Dawson non-SNL pad: fits only 28 super, 29 supercomp.
  • MBX mag long mag body, Grams spring/follower, MBX pad: fits 29 super (easy), 30 supercomp.

MBX spring seemed to fit non-SNL pad, just barely; weird.

Overall, if you can find and afford any of these, I'd recommend old-SV 40 mags, TTI spring/follower, Dawson pad for 21-round Ltd mags, same mags but Grams guts for very reliable 20-rounders; MBX big stick and whatever guts float your boat for Open mags.

Looking at the MBX mag body lips, I don't see any reason why you couldn't machine them down to take a Dawson pad. I like Dawson pads better. Having screwed up a lot of $$ shit with a hand file, I wouldn't mess with an MBX mag body unless I had access to a milling machine.

Plain old STI .40 tubes, Dawson SNL pads milled out at the bottom a skosh to fit the Taran spring & followers get 20 loadable, 21 starter most of the time.

Find me some old SV tubes.

I am just gonna bevel my frame inside on both sides so that I can run the new SV tubes with no drama and no ghetto ass mag catch hole modifications that really just let the magazine sit lower.

Why do people always say loadable and not loadable. If you can't friggen load it with the slide closed it's not worth a shit. Why wear your spring out cramming that last round in a tube just to prove you can when you can use a "Barney" mag and do the same damn thing.

RE-loadable as when you are low on bullets in your mag you RE-load. 20 reloadable, 21 to start 20 plus 1 in the pipe.

TTI pads are more of a pain to remove and replace what with faffing with the spring.   Plus I already have the Dawsons.
