Here's what I can tell from that one frame: his finger is on the trigger while his sights aren't on the target.

For everyone who is justifying this because: game, all that does is reinforce the idea that these games are giving up cardinal safety procedures for the sake of speed & fun.

I guess shooting on the move is not a good thing over there on the "tactical" side?

"...while his sights aren't on the target."

That's a tough claim to make with that photo.  It seems possible to be the case, but.... we can't see the target.  Additionally, USPSA rule 8.5 requires that the finger must be outside the trigger guard "Except when the competitor is actually aiming or shooting at targets..."  Without knowing the exact target placement (unavailable in the photo) it's not possible to claim that the competitor isn't meeting that condition.

Further, if Todd G's assertion that the "sights aren't on target" is the cause for a DQ, then every Mike called should result in a DQ.  Yea, I'm being a bit literal.  Internet.

As I said in the podcast, anyone who wants to rip USPSA on safety sounds like WVU ripping Kentucky... check out the scoreboard, sally.

At least in USPSA you have one shooter at a time on the line, and even if that person is new and likely to do something stupid, the RO is focused entirely on that person and probably everyone else in the bay is too.  I don't think you could pay me enough to do a timmy class with 10 newbies shooting at once who barely know what end the bullet comes out.

If I was a member over there I would post those pics and call him out on it.

Is this where I list my guns to look like a pro?

The stage in question is this one:

It certainly appears that he is very close to aiming at a target.

Rule 8.5.1 says: "Except when the competitor is actually aiming or shooting at targets, all movement (see Appendix A3) must be accomplished with the fingers visibly outside the trigger guard and the safety should be engaged. The handgun must be pointed in a safe direction."

"actually aiming or shooting" is a loophole big enough to sail an aircraft carrier through. So long as there are targets visible, just claim you were point shooting!
