If you're not in a gun friendly area or hotel, keep your weapons/gear out of sight & out of mind.... close the blinds, lock the door, and do your reloads without a magazine inserted (ala Steve Anderson).

I've had to keep a low-profile before at places like the downtown Hilton @ Phoenix (AZ) due to listed "no guns allowed" policy, unless you're a putz nobody should know that you've brought any weapons into the hotel (via Baggage or CCW).  Now for a polar opposite example... I've dry-fired in the back patio / BBQ area at a hotel in Yuma (AZ) while having beers and waiting for steaks to finish cooking, none of the other guests or employees so much as batted an eye (but then again that hotel chain/area is very gun friendly).

Lots of people have shot holes in lots of motel walls, specifically the motel nearest gunsite, So much so they started issuing a piece of armor plate to dry fire at.

It's not frowned upon, shooting holes in motel walls is.  I've walked into countless hotels with gun cases, if your not in a crappy area or at a crappy chain they don't care either.

As for a no guns allowed sign. I'd stay somewhere else the hell with them.

So to play on another note... if your in a hotel where there are USPSA shooters, there is a damn good chance, someone is pointing a gun at the other side of your wall. :-)

How many USPSA shooters, on average, dryfire at all? I haven't personally met all that many. Maybe there is a higher correlation between dudes that shoot majors and have to stay in hotels that also dryfire?

It's not how many that dry fire, it's how many decide the night before a major will be there first time.

I'd rather take my chances with the gunfire than risk whatever disease lays in bottom of a hotel bath tub.

It's OK, I've had all those diseases, I've got immunity now.

Keep one eye on the ground? Pick up whatever you find?

For whatever reason, your post reminds me of Steve Earl.

Prison cells in America look better than that room.  Other than tasty sheep heads I'm just not seeing the appeal of Norway.
