I am not down on these guys for being bad.... they seem pretty new.

I think the pace of this practice session is agonizingly slow. Way too few reps. Way too much jawjacking.

Seems like they know how to get a long practice out of 100 rounds.

Maybe Stegger could help them with practice efficiency, and they could show him how to get subscribers.

Combat training.

Combat is 99% boredom 1% sheer terror.  They mirror this with 99% BS 1% shooting.

Combat accuracy - these guys are fighting their natural instinct to drill doubles, every time.  Combat accuracy = making multiple wound paths.  This is also CQB suppressive fire training.  The enemy is frozen in place knowing they are probably safe where they are but if they move they could be struck by an errant round.

Combat technique - knowing if there is a mag in the gun, racking the gun even when it already hot - nothing matters compared to the one true critical combat skill which is quickly pulling the gun into your chest while jerking your head to the left and then right.  Who cares if the mag change takes 5 seconds if you did the post-drill pull-in in less than .5 seconds.

These guys are engaging targets from distances of 5 to 7 yards; the combat rule of thumb is 1 second for each yard for each shot in the drill so they were killing it.

Watching guys at the Nats unload and show clear without first pulling the gun totally into their chest and waving their head around makes me sad knowing how fast they'd be killed if they stepped one foot onto any street in a combat zone.

Tactical geezer talking points

  1. Wear a drop leg so far down your gun is by your knee
  2. Keep your hand on the butt of the gun at all times.  because real world
  3. Have no clue how to make ready.  Finger fuck your pistol endlessly
  4. Take 2 sec to work the safety after you spend 5 getting a sight picture on the draw
  5. Strip mags out of the gun even though they drop free just fine.  Sure to improve your classifier times
  6. Slam your gun back into the cheap ass chinese plastic holster as hard and fast as you can.  Let's try to ND into our legs.
  7. Shots (not hits) count
  8. From the other video: reholster like a dumbfuck so your gat hits the ground

Now you know why I avoid gun ranges open to the public as if they were plague, ebola, and leprosy infected

What they're doing isn't practice or training, it's social plinking.  If they enjoy what they're doing then have at it.  I'm just tired of people calling it training because shooting happened and a timer was present.

I see guys like this at my local range.  A group of 3-5 show up, spends 20-30 mins getting kitted up and complimenting each other on their shemagh choice.  Eventually some B27s will be stapled up, after they borrow my staple gun, and they'll take turns attempting what they saw deltasealfaceshooter99 do on youtube.  One run each with ample discussion.  Targets are never scored or replaced and have hits covering the entire sheet.  All told they're there for an hour and a half, shoot through a value pack each, 30 min argument about how to perform a one handed slide lock reload, and learn nothing.

I also see competitive shooters do essentially the same thing.  One maybe two reps each of six different drills.  They'll pick up brass between shooters.  The engineer types will spend 10 minutes setting up each drill with a tape measure and writing down every split and hit in a journal.  Alternatively some guys are only concerned with their time and don't get wrapped up in where the rounds went.  They'll video each other doing wildly out of control bill drills a couple times and leave saying they nailed a sub 2...with one miss.  Again hour and a half, hundred rounds, 30 min argument about what part of the finger to put on the trigger, nothing learned.

Then there are the "standards" guys.  They show up several times a month and shoot some standards exercise one time through (10-8, Hackathorn, etc...).  Same times and scores each month, and a 30 min argument about how "out" to press out.

Because they spend so much time at the range "training" the next step is writing off anyone better than them as magic.
