Let me understand this....the USPSA classification system requires only one classifier to be shot once at "GM" level in order for a shooter to get their GM card. and that is for instance el prez fairly clean at sub 6 secs?

Incorrect.

So much pointless hand wringing...

The only two posts in this thread that matter/entertain:

I don't think we should judge the whole system based on an anomaly.

Thank you for your support.

Yesterday I was seriously excited for her. Then someone sent me this. Now......I don't know.

So am I interpreting this correctly that the club lets people shoot a classifier over and over or is there some other way to read this?

On injured reserve.

Probably only until they score 100%.

Twinkie makes improvements and other people take that shit personally.

That does not sound healthy.

You're absolutely right. Shooting 47% at IPSC Nationals is an improvement. Congratulations Candice, you're making some great strides......keep up the good work!

It certainly looks that way. I have only seen someone request a classifier reshoot on maybe two occasions, and that was for a single run after an equipment failure. I have certainly never seen someone take five runs at a single classifier at the same match and I don't know that most clubs would honor that request. If I pay enough can I just write down the hit factor that I want to have on a particular classifier? And here I am taking one shot a month at a classifier and turning in 85% scores like a sucker.

Here's how I see it. The classifiers are a test of physical skill. So this tells us she has skill.

Matches are a test of performance on demand and executing your skill consistently. That part is very mental. Once she gets a hold of the mental part she will be using the skill she's built to place high/win matches.

It's as simple as that. Why don't we all become more concerned with our own performance and we'll be a lot better off. In other words, "Can't we all just get along".

I expect a lot of clubs will simply disallow re-shoots going forward.

I can't imagine doing that to the RO, and other competitors. I get annoyed when someone has to do a legit reshoot after a steel calibration. But whatever. Everyone is different.

So now reshooting and reshooting and reshooting classifiers is part of the "gaming" process and is something to be proud of.  Got it...

Pathetic

Twinkie and I have way different views off what the classification system represents. It is what it is. She is not the first and damn sure won't be the last to get a two letter classifcation by reshooting.

Congratulations on achieving your goal of making GM Twinkie. I hope now that you have that monkey off your back you can focus on learning how to not suck at shooting big matches.

Don't they just do the reshoots at the end of the match?

The local clubs that allow it around me usually do it that way

Well shit. It was my argument that it was probably just the one match. Equipment problems or some shit. I looked just to prove my point. I wish I wouldn't have.

One theory would suggest that the reshoots were pre-registered but not needed. I'd say that was a legit cold run so there's some good happening there.
