Out of control paranoia or common sense gun control?

Will give my reasoning after I strap on the G17 and finish cutting the grass.

If you get a riding mower with a good turning radius you can do effective threat scans.

Live out in the sticks and generally always carry. Mostly for the two legged predators, but there are bears in the area and a neighbor was attacked by dogs a few years ago.

I carry almost all the time. My primary concern is dogs followed closely by two legged undesirables. Friend of a friend was recently attacked by a dog while on a walk and had to shoot it.

I live out in the country and our house is not visible from any other houses but it is fairly close to and fully visible from the county road.  This is apparently an ideal setup for smash and grab house robbers.  We have been burglarized twice.

At no point in my normal activities am I as vulnerable to attack as when I'm out mowing the grass.  When I'm inside I have guns close at hand and a couple of dogs for early warning and cannon fodder.  When I'm away from home at least the alarm is set.

I have been seeing more and more home invasions in the news lately.

^ Like you I live rural.  I do carry while mowing.

However, its a Ruger Single Six, that I use to dispatch field mice and snakes, that narrowly escape me running em over.

It's only paranoid if you carry a BUG to your primary.

Strange neighborhood you live in. Two legged undesirables closely following your dogs? Then you had to shoot your friend after he was recently attacked by a dog. Stop drinking the water.

Given your situation I'd carry as well while mowing the yard.

ETA: Hell you're in GA - open carry while mowing.

Hello?  If the only thing you are carrying is a BUG it IS your primary.

If you're having to wear diapers you should consider cutting back on the drinking.

I use a weed whacker for what little lawn I have and am prone to throwing deer 'green field' seed mix everywhere else.

Helps keep the freezer full.

Always carry. No thought required.
