So I'm making my Christmas list and I'm lusting after a mark 7, which I have almost zero chance of getting. In between salivating over YouTube videos and articles, I checked the warranty information and was surprised to see it was only a year?

http://www.markvii-l...nty_ep_4-1.html

That said, the next line says it will replace parts at its discretion.

Thing looks badass, and I'm not trolling, but is the warranty just a year or do these guys have a similar warranty like Dillon offers?

I don't know the warrenty policy but they have a tech support line that is helpful as hell.

The Dillon warranty on a "stock" 1050 is only 1 year as well since it is considered a commercial press. I am sure the Mark 7 inherits that.

What are your thoughts on the Mark 7?  Any issues?  I am seriously considering putting an auto drive together this winter and I was wondering if this one lived up to the hype.  Thanks.

Will, We have sent out a bunch of autodrives and are about to send out more as part of our second lot. With all the machines we've shipped we've only had very minor electrical issues. Given that the Mark 7 uses rather complex electronics we have to guard against people dropping things and other negligence. We do stock all parts and have no interest in hosing any of our customers. And as Ben mentioned, we make a great effort to ensure the happiness of all our customers.

I recently upgraded to a 1050 and am now considering an auto drive, but not sure I can justify the cost. I felt the same way when I moved from my old press to the 1050 and now I can't imagine going back. It keeps me wondering if I'm missing something.

To those who have one, what amount of ammo would you say I need to be shooting/making per month to make it worthwhile? I can currently make all the ammo I need for a month in about 2 1/2 hours on a base 1050. Why upgrade it? I know this is subjective, but I need help to push past the absurdity of spending 3 g's to save what seems like a very minimal amount of time and labor.

The Mark 7 is beyond awesome for me.  You might think you load fast on a 1050, but the virtually non-stop production rate of the Mk7 just makes massive quantities of ammo.

I've got the itch, just need the right situation to be able to pull it off.

I haven't loaded enough rounds I am comfortable giving a review... but the machine has potential. I will podcast on it at some point.

Please do.

It's a big investment but I'd love one. I do wonder if the tablet will shit itself eventually like all my other tablets/laptops and cell phones though. What happens then?

Eh - assuming that it only runs the machine and doesn't let you close the window and go surf porn, it should last a long time.

Tablets make more and more sense for these applications - for the $80 or so you pay for a tablet, you'd spend more money and have a less slick interface building a control box.

I hate crappy control boxes. iOS and Android devices are ubiquitous and have many interface options, it is foolish to do crappy custom control boxes for what can be done far better and cheaper in software.

We've experienced a 2%-3% failure rate so far with the tablets we're using. If your tablet fails within a year we'll send you a new one under warranty. If it fails out of warranty we'll send you one preloaded with the latest sw/fw for our cost which is around $60.

Would this work on the older RL 1050s?
