Looking for decent pair of electronic ears for competition.

What do you recommend?

3M Peltor Tactical Sport  with SureFire EP10 Sonic Defenders Ultra Max.

I've tried the $200+ ProEars stuff, didn't notice any difference.  I like these Peltors since they have auto-shutoff (just remember to reset them during long matches) and the cheaper version would burn through batteries.  I double-plug with the SureFire's and find them pretty comfortable, easy to use, and just as good as the best foam plug ones out there.

I usually use custom plugs but also use the howard leight impact pro electronic muffs when I want amplification. They are relatively iniexpensive, work well, are more comfortable than low profile muffs, have auto-shut-off and the batteries last.

I originally got them for Guana Loca who has sensitive ears and a low tolerance for discomfort.

I have the stupid expensive MSA Sordin.  They are not as awesome as I thought they would be.  I will probably use them some this winter but they are intolerable to me in the summer time.

The Brownells Pro-ears knockoffs snap headbands on a regular basis if you have a big head.  Got 2 broken sets here waiting to be sent back.  They do swap them out with another equally fragile set without complaining though.

If you don't already have them, get the Gel Cup upgrade.  The gel ear cups provide a better seal and a massive increase in comfort, it's a must have (#HY80A for Peltor, #MSA60092 for Sodin)

I suggestion you harden the fuck up.  If you're still too delicate to handle wearing them all day after the gel cup upgrade, perhaps you should turn in your man card and get the bruce jenner treatment.

I have been thinking that over.  I would do slightly better shooting in the girl division.

Like that would have happened.  I was  thinking more like 5th lady,  if all the good ones stayed home (making sammiches).

I have tried EVERYTHING including $1200 electronic in ear plugs and I have settled on the MSA Sordin's with the gel ear pads. They are still not perfect but the best I have used so far.

Once upgraded with the gel-cup, Peltor ComTacs & MSA Sordin's are the cats pajamas.  Huge upgrade from the early days of amplified E-earpro, wearing ComTac or Sordin (Gen. 1's) was quite uncomfortable after a few hours.
