I must be the only cheap bastard who figured out to cut Pro Grip with Rubbing Alcohol.

I did it to get the last little bit out of the bottle and it ended up being less tacky and didn't get as much white shit everywhere.

Now I prefer to have it cut. I use it everytime I dryfire or livefire.

I was using Liquid Grip for weight lifting long before I started shooting USPSA, so I started there. I like that it's easy to adjust your grip even if your hands are slathered with the stuff. I don't like how Pro Grip is kind of sticky and makes it tricky to adjust your grip if you don't nail it on the first try.

I just started using chalk, just like for powerlifting or rock climbing, any of you guys do that?

I used chalk back when I was rock climbing every weekend and brought my chalk bag into the gym at the time. Liquid Grip seems just as good and a whole lot less messy. Haven't tried it for climbing, though.

I still have a cannister of tacky chalk stuff from my bullseye days. Seems to work fine.

Tried chalk, liquid grip, dry hands, pro grip, prince grip and even my own mix of chalk and alcohol.... Prince grip/Pro grip is the best for me

Currently mixing powdered chalk, 99% isopropyl alcohol and a dab of aloe hand gel (I think glycerine is the key incredient) to make a chalk cream of sorts. Chalk 2:1 alcohol by volume or less. A small dab goes a long long way, almost too much. Dries fast unles you use too much gel. A little peppermint oil cuts the alcohol smell without being obnxious.

I like Pro Grip a little better - nicer smell, less chalk/liquid volume, nice container. but for the price I can make a TON of my own mix.

You should sell your proprietary blend in 4 oz. Bottles for $30. Maybe call it Fire Grip or GuanoGoo.

Stay with the phallic shaped bottle and make the logo two clay targets.

Call it "Skeet Skeet"

I don't think GuanoGoo would be a good name

If you want to kick it old school and don't mind a mess, you could try stickum paste or pine tar paste as used by old school NFL players.

Everyone here should try it for the first time at their next major, then report back with their findings

Having to dig your pistol out of the torture porta potty on the 3rd day of the Nationals is a bitch.

OK, by popular demand, GuanoGoo (version 1.0):

Chalk aka Magnesium Carbonate, cheapest on Amazon in 2 oz block form. 2 oz is less that $5 and makes quite a bit, but I got 8 x 2 ounce blocks for a little more. currently less that $10 on Amazon Prime: http://www.amazon.co...rds=chalk block

Isopropyl / Isopropanol Alcohol, 99% - Dries fast and makes an excellent gun cleaner for carbon, oils/grease, etc. I bought a gallon from Amazon a while back, should last a very long time. Lower % ratios (91%, 70%) will take longer to dry. I wouldn't consider 70%. Link: http://www.amazon.co...pyl alcohol 99%, cheaper in quantity like usual.

Alone these two components in a 2:1 or 3:2 chalk:alcohol ratio will give a workable milky slurry but it is too thin to use easily, plus isopropyl alcohol stinky.

Thickener: Water-based thickeners like starches won't work. You don't want to add too much water in any form or it won't dry as fast as I like. We had some Aloe Vera hand gel around. If you have straight glycerine this may be even better. Use a small dab, just enough to turn the slurry into a less messy and easily used cream. Too much and it won't dry on your hands quickly enough.

Scent: Your choice. I used 5 drops of Peppermint Oil that I had laying around for a small ProGrip size bottle. 10 drops seemed like too much. It cuts alcohol scent and has very light peppermint aroma without being obnoxious.

Nick made a good point about not trying grippy lotion for the first time at a match.  I asked a guy what he was putting on his hands and he offered me to try his.  Dude squirted about a quarter cup of the Prince grip in my hand.

After shooting that stage I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and my gat.  It was like being glued to the gun.

That dude who offered to squirt on your hand didn't happen to have the initials BGA did he? He would likely call his product "Prince".

Peppermint is a calming aromatherapy oil.

Might help when reshooting classifiers.
