Hi. I feel I am still pretty new to the sports. (shot 1 year)

I have very very bad eye sights. When I use daily life glasses, when I shot target focused, I see the front sight becomes 2. I recently purchased a reading glasses, when I shot with the reading lgasses, I can see 1 (but a little blurry) front sight.

HOWEVER, when I got a reading glasses prescription insert for my Ruddy, It did not help me to see 1 front sight because of the lens refraction.

What is you guys' solution on bad eye sight?

The eye doctor examined that my eyes are not recommended for LASIK, even I do so, I'd still have to wear glasses.

Poke out your weak eye. It's weak.

Mr. White has poor eyesight and has a method he uses that may help, you can read about it here:

http://pistol-traini...articles/vision

I did have very poor eyesight but I had laser surgery called PRK. It wore off about 5 years ago and I only had one eye corrected this time. One thing that I'm exparamenting with is using target focus at distances from 3 yards to 15 yards. In practice my accuracy has not deteriorated but I need to try it in a club match.

A lot of people insist you have to shoot with both eyes open, I agree that it is a little bit of advantage but not an absolute necessity if you just can't do it.  Don't waste time beating yourself up, just close one eye when you have to.

I shoot both eyes open target focus on close open stuff , for shots needing some precision I kinda lazy eye my weak side eye, almost closed but not squinted down, and shoot front sight focus. Been that way from day one, always saw two guns, two front sights with both eyes open and trying to front sight focus.

I use reading glasses that are about half the power I need for actual reading (since the sights are twice as far away as my book), so i get a very clear picture of the front sight.

I also use a square of scotch tape on my glasses to block my left eye from seeing the sight clearly (like hopkins does). It doesnt seem to be a big deal for many people, but I don't really have a very dominant eye, so I had real problems with seeing 2 sights.

IMHO it's worth experimenting a little.

No offense to Hopkins but it's hard to look cool with scotch tape all over you glasses, may as well get the pocket protector too.

if i cared about looking cool i would have internet videos of doing squatting reloads.

fwiw, i wear regular sunglasses until its time to make ready, then i switch to my uncool shooting glasses.

The cool kid thing to do seems to be having one lens corrected for distance vision and leave dominant eye uncorrected for front sight focus.

Normally you could get an idea of how this feels by squinting your non-dominant eye, but not sure what you would do... Unsquint your dominant eye?

I did find a good use for the scotch tape, it works great for holding up my eyelid flaps. The Gorilla tape I've been using is rough on my delicate skin.

Hi.
I'm farsighted.
Rudyinserts +5 for right eye and no correction for the left.
I think it's called monovision.
Best solution for me so far.

Shooting is better, moving precise is harder but training and wearing the glasses for a while before shooting helps.

+5 is my current prescription for working at a computer.

See?

I'm extremely near sighted and right eye dominant so I close my left eye.
My solution was achieved by working with the optometrist and optition.
Glasses bifocals are tuned in to the front sight. I also wear contacts and the right lens is also bifocal. The bifocal contact made all the difference. I can see the front sight and still easily transition to distance. Movement is safer as well.
Hang in there, find a shooter friendly doctor. There are options that can help.
Good luck!

Editing the above to clarify that I don't wear both glasses and contacts at the same time.
That would probably give me x-ray vision or earn a 'failure to do the right thing' demerit if shooting idpa.
