There will be no living with LAV after this.  He's had a hardon for busting Eotechs for a while.  With all the shills out there its gettin really hard when they are shilling and when they are on target.

disclaimer: as a timmy wannabe I ran a micro aimpont.

But it was on a Bushmaster/Spike Tactical.  The "M4C headassplode" carbine.

Anyone who says who uses the word ¨run¨ as a cool-guy substitute for ¨use¨ is a fucking tool

I am sick and fucking tired of this tacticool jargon.  Even if you really are tacticool, not using proper English makes you sound stupid.

Using "run" as a transitive verb is proper use of English. Bro, do you even operate? (just wanted to run my keyboard a little)

She loves to use her mouth.

He likes to run his gun.
He likes to use his gun.

Nope, not synonymous at all.

Got your RMA approved or your RMA check?

I found my order for a Eotech 517 from 2009 for $429,99; contemplating getting a refund - 6 years later, HA! - and upgrading to an Aimpoint.

I'm pretty sure I couldn't sell it for that, even with my beloved GG&G 'Front Towards Enemy' Hood & Scope Cover.

RMA for refund approved. I'd return it - have you checked out the scope. Probably delaminated as shit.

Scope actually looked fine, no delamination evident. The red reticle looks like it is made from little pieces of red string, not sure if it was always like that or not.

I got an RMA return approval back already, curious to see if this actually will work. Maybe it is time to upgrade to a real aimpoint instead of running Primary Arms micro dots.

Until the testing protocols and data are made available I'm taking the zero drift issue with a small grain of salt.  I think this is a reflection of the large amount of defective sights pumped out by L3 and pressed into service by the GOV.  Seems just a little far fetched that 100% of all sights made by EOTech have been afflicted with wandering zero and humidity degradation issues, if that's true then the item I have must be a true Unicorn.

You can expect all of the following things to occur with nearly all weapon & sighting systems (iron, magnified, red-dot):

  • Altitude induced zero drift (a zero performed at 240ft will not be the same if you re-confirm at 6,000+ above sea level)
  • Thermal zero drift (can occur with as little as a 25 degree swing in temperature, more pronounced effect when switching environments / seasons)
  • Changes in ammunition (e.g. lot / batch, manufacturer, bullet weight / type)

Three things....

  1. Rarely is anything actually made by the lowest bidder / cheapest contractor
  2. Almost all NSN issued equipment is over priced
  3. The entire military procurement system is irrevocably broken

The better question is: Now that they have all these returned optics, will anyone ever actually receive the promised $$$.
