I am new and planning to register for the 2016 Prod Nationals.

The web site says 350 slot numbers have been sent out for guaranteed "slot entry".  That leaves about 50 for "open entry".

Where can you get a "slot number" besides shooting previous years' nationals/area matches?  For new shooters, is "open entry" the only way to get in?  50 across the country seems a bit slim.

Thanks.

Last year was my first Nationals.

I asked my local RO how. He told me to ask Section director.

When I asked him, he gave me a slot after signing a document.

I heard what ever slot is left over from sections and etc, becomes open entry.

Ask Mosher. He makes so much cash in activity fees that once he goes indie he'll probably have plenty of slots to hand out.

Ask club president/ section coordinator if any slots are available from the section. If not wait for open slots. Last year there was not a lot of competition to get them and there were many slots not filled by the time the match came around.

Your section gets assigned a certain amount based on mission count. The sections all have different rules how to give them out. Some have some sort of shoot off. Some go to whoever fellates the MD the best.

You forgot to post the link to your kickstarter so we can pay for your trip.

No need for kickstarter. Already got someone else paying for it.

And not sure IDPA does their nats better. They use a point system as well that runs for a calendar year. But then I've never seen anyone not get into idpa nationals who wanted to go.

IDPA does it that way to try to force people to shoot sanctioned matches. They try to make it look like Nationals is a huge event that sells out in 15 minutes but I think the commoners are on to their scheme.

The slots were emailed to the section coordinators on 2/18/2016. If there was one available to your club you should have known about it already.

The slots and the open entry both go live on 3/1/2016 so there is still a rat race to get the shooting schedule you want.

I emailed 2 club directors and none of them said they got any slot numbers yet.   I guess it's time to enter the rat race!

BTW - I like the IDPA point system for nationals.  I had 3 tier 3-4 matches and was put on waiting list for 3 months last year, but in the end got an opening 2 weeks before the match because someone could not make it.

We have ours but I don't think anyone is going to take them.

Not to be confused with ZachJ
