That's right, nine and a half, a little faster than nine. Supposedly very similar to Solo 1000 and N320. Did that get your attention? Solo 1000 is unavailable and N320 is stupid expensive at $27.50/pound. This froggy powder is not cheap but affordable at $22.50/pound.

Has anybody tried it? It just might be the hot ticket, or the equivalent to a hot ticket, in 9mm and possibly even .40. One problem is load data stops at 130gr for 9mm and 155gr for .40. The interesting thing is it gives the same velocities for the same powder charges as N320. Hmmmm.

I got some ba 9 1/2 and some a24 to play around with, but I haven't had time to experiment yet. for sure their load data is woefully incomplete, but I'm good at extrapolating.

I have worked up a 9mm 147gr load with Prima V, which is cheaper, and it seems to be similar to red dot in terms of velocity per grain. I feel pretty confident it will work for 40 major as well, since red dot is awesome in that use.

what caliber/weight do you want to use it for? i would feel very comfortable working up a competition load in 9 or 40 with ba 9 1/2.... i just haven't gotten around to it yet. Probably not until winter when i'm bored. the prima v works so well that i've just been shooting that.

9mm 147gr, looking for around 900 fps

.40 long 180gr, must make Major plus a buffer, at least 930 fps

How does your 147gr Prima V load feel compared to N320, TiteGroup, or Solo 1000?

in my experience, red dot feels very slightly softer than n320 in my 40 major (180gr) and my 9mm 147 load. I think prima v feels indistinguishable from red dot, but it meters a little more accurately. I would highly recommend it.

My intent is to do some back to back testing of red dot, prima v, and ba 9.5 this winter when it's too snowy to run around and do constructive drills, but I am easily sidetracked by homebrewing that time of year.

dstriker on enos was very helpful in getting me going with prima v. I don't recall if he tried any of the other ones.

if you are shooting the inland empire sectional in a couple weeks, i could bring you an unopened half kilo of ba 9 1/2 it for $25 (note that it comes in half kilos or 1.1 lbs, not 1lb jugs). I bought two and haven't opened either one. You could do the donkey work and report back to the group.

Ramshot Competition. That is all. Shoots like N320 in 9mm with 147s. Some folks shoot 40 major with it but I haven't worked up a load yet.

At about $125 / 8 lbs it's as cheap as it gets.

i've heard good and bad about ramshot comp.

prima v is $15.35 for 1.1 lbs which is slightly cheaper than ramshot.

It's clean and readily available which counts for a lot for me. Seems to be pretty funky in temp sensitivity but that could just be the loads I'm shooting. But I haven't done a serious study.

i was going to try it but it wasn't in stock when i was looking, and neither was red dot, so i finally bit the bullet and tried the vectan stuff. I think it will be a while til the hoarders and preppers discover the frenchy powder.

3.2 GR under a 147 at ~ 1.145 makes minor comfortably and is very clean.

ETR-7, 4 lbs is currently $70. Price fluctuates a little. https://expansion-in...powder-4lb.html

Runs like Titegroup / N320 in 9mm, 3.7gr under 135gr @ <= 1.110 @ 134 PF. Flake.

My last order was 48 lbs, most you can buy in 1 Hazmat fee; split order with friends and already people starting to look for more.

Wait, wait, wait...

Why is this powder called 9 1/2...instead of 9.5 ???

Because 'Murica! > metric system.

+1 on ETR-7... Vectan 9.whatever is late to the party.

Now if Expansion Industries could just get thier shit together with online ordering/shipping...

I personally had a terrible accuracy result with BA 9.5 with 124gr Xtreme RN in Stock 2

I use Prima V

Any updates on your nobel sport experiments?

9.5 shows closest burn rate to n320.  Some like Prima V

Thinking about trying it as I use up my ramshot comp and dont want to ball out on some n320.  Ramshot has worked well for me in 40 major.  I dont find it to be extremely clean for me, it also melts front sights on my sight trackers after 500ish rounds.

I load 3.5 of 9.5 under lead coated 147 FP @ 1.09. Gets about 128 PF out of a 5" gun. Shoots soft but requires more grains than n320.

And it's SD is all over the place at 20+ and it's rather filthy as hell*. For practice ammo only. Next.
