I know that this has been talked about before but here is my experience.  Until yesterday I hadn't touched my pistol in three months, no matches no practice.  This going from shooting almost every day.

Shot a six stage steel challenge match yesterday and came very near to shooting a personal best time.

Maybe I "forgot" some bad habit I had picked up, maybe (probably) shot better because I had no hope or expectation of shooting a good match.

It was interesting to me anyway.

I hae long surmised that periodic breaks let things sink in deep and then you pick up a little later at a new baseline.
Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Doodie Project?

You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Breaks are good to flush the noise in your head.

It's probably not a coincidence that some very good shooters don't seem to have a lot going on upstairs.

Unless otherwise noted, expect that all my posting here is in true Doodie fashion.  If my post somehow upsets your sensibilities, well...there ya go.

My 4 month breaks should help me make GM. And slink's 18+/- years should make him world champ.
