When shooting one-handed, do you prefer to shoot "out to in" (ex: RH shooter, shooting SHO, shooting right to left) or "In to out" (ex: RH shooter, SHO, shooting left to right)? Why?

For our purposes, assume it's a classifier type of stage / stand & shoot.

I've been experimenting with this more lately. My observations are, like many things in this sport, it seems to be a wash (which surprised me). Shooting "in," it appears that my transitions are faster due to following the natural path of recoil; but, sight alignment requires a little more focus. Shooting "out," transitions seem to be marginally slower, but the sights settle where I want them.

Conventional Wisdom says right to left riding the recoil but I never measured it.  Interesting.

Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Doodie Project?

I'm not surprised it's a wash. To me it's just easier to go in the direction of recoil. Maybe my eyes like it better for transitions since there's less stuff in the way or something.

I think that's where a lot my surprise comes from. In vertical arrays, I've found it to be significantly better to work my way up because the targets are visually available. Here, the effect has been diminished (for me).

I have always gone left to right with LH shooting. Right to left with RH shooting.

I'd never considered doing it the opposite direction unless somehow required to by the stage.

Something new to play with.

practice both ways in dry fire, and am measurably slower going out. Haven't tried comparing in live fire, but maybe i should.

You are stronger going from the outside in. Pulling instead of pushing..

If you are right handed, SHO shoot right to left. WHO, left to right.

I've tested it with several thousands rounds of ammo and many hours of my time. And the best way I have found is.

SHO, shoot right to left riding the recoil.

WHO, shoot left to right riding the recoil.

Out to In. I thought this was already settled by Enos, Leatham, et al. back in the dark ages.

This. Have done both extensively. Best to go R to L with RH, L to R with LH. Recoil aids with transitions and for me it's easier to find my sights due to the index point after a draw or reload being in line with the center of my vision. I also find blading mostly a matter of comfort, and don't really see much difference from changing from my normal shooting stance. I probably do blade after a reload, though. Don't know why.

If it's a standard, substandard two on each freestyle, reload and two on each SHO/WHO I will shoot the freestyle so as to end on the side I want to start on with my one handed portion. So L to R freestyle to do SHO (right handed). Right to left to switch to WHO.

Just be sure to press your non shooting fist firmly into your chin for extra timmy points.

He's actually choking himself.

He's fapping hard to how tactical he is, jacking off with each mental rep of "front sight. press. tango down, motherfucker."
