Depends on the state. CA might start using "likes guns" sashes as scarlet letters tomorrow.

I can sort of see why they have a police one but the ccw one is awesome. Go to some effort to ensure proper concealment of your pistol then strap on a banner that tells people you are carrying concealed.

I get that they only intend you to deploy it during the inevitable food court shootout to ensure people know you're on the side of the angels. But still...

I seriously doubt uniformed cops responding to any kind of shooting are going to give a shit about a sash that says "police" if the guy wearing it has a pistol in his hands.

If you don't want to get shot you better either reholster and reconceal before the cops get there or else drop that gun before the cops even have the chance to say "drop it".

Anything else will earn you a dozen bullets.

The law runs the 'off duty cop in the Food Court' scenario in the sim-house every so often.  Even holding a badge open over his head and yelling 'police', he gets lit up more often than not.  Holding a gun, NFW he doesn't get blasted.

"That could never happen" is a valid objection to any practical course of fire -- IPSC rules, June 1978.

Happened here a few years ago. The off duty cop also made the mistake of being black, which I'm sure didn't help.
