Thought I would try one of these to keep track of my goals and get some feedback on the practice plan.

Currently shooting IDPA as a SSP sharpshooter.

My match review from Saturday:

10th/65, 4th SS/21. A pretty good performance for my current skills.

Things to improve:

-Speed and accuracy as always.

- Took forever to fire first shot even thought the draw was decent.

- Forgot where a reload was going to happen.

- There's a hiccup in my stages where I'm remembering what to do next.

- My brain goes to mush on drop-turners.

- Can't shoot on the move for shit.

Things that went well:

- Took some good longer shots.

- Called a bad shot (of course on the limited scoring stage, so it didn't really help)

Practice plan for this week:

Dryfire:

- Continue working on grip from draw/reloads

- Continue doing the trigger on the beep.

- Do more reloading/drawing while moving

Live fire will be dots and distance accuracy again this week. I did this last week and felt like I was gaining some ground.

Don't mind these mouth breathers. What is your goal? Make M, DM? Shit on Vogel? Shit on the old guys at your club? Asking because it's easier to work to a goal if the goal is defined.

I use to have problems forgetting to engage targets until I started arriving to the match an hour early and drawing diagrams of the stages on index cards. With the match drawn out I plan my route and reload locations and I review the diagram while I'm waiting for others to shoot.

IDPA has the engagement sequence pre planned, but if you know where the targets are it's one less variable to screw-up in your mind. (A few years ago that was the case when I shot IDPA, I haven't shot it years so I'm not sure if it still works that way)

I see some improvement already

You at least remembered what side your holstered pistol was on....

Oh and 1 tip I tell all IDPA shooters -
don't over insert your ear plugs they seal to tight and will cause your brain to vapor lock .
NITRO
Nitromethane, nitrous oxide, nitrocellulose ....3 of my favorite things
To be sure of hitting the target , shoot 1st and call what ever u hit the target.

Master is my long term goal.

I never felt lost when I was shooting. If I hadn't seen it on video I wouldn't know there was a pause. I think at some point I'll have to practice getting my butt in gear after the last shoot in a position, but right now there's lower hanging fruit.

Well, sort-of sacred anyhow. OP should be happy of getting any attention at all.

No match last weekend.

Live fire practice wasn't very good. Worked dots and kept going back and forth between a good one and a bad one. The bad ones were due to impatience. On a positive note, I have started breaking the looking-for-the-holes habit.

Dry fire practice has been ok. Made a minor breakthrough in realizing that I need to focus on where the gun will be when I'm drawing, rather than drawing 1st and focusing vision on the sights 2nd.

A question for everyone: where do you set practice goals for a short term improvement?  If I'm working draws and say I'm 30% successful at 1.0, 50% at 1.1 and 85% 1.2 where should I set my par time? Should I be aiming to drop .05 a week? 2 weeks?
