Well, Idaho State Champs is coming up. So I figured I would shoot a little production this weekend to make sure I still know how to use fuck with iron sights. Production win. Overall win. Rifle shooters can continue to suck it.

It's cute to watch production shooters pretend that it is the hardest division

With as good as Open shooters say they are, I expect nothing less than every open shooter winning every Low Cap division they shoot. Anything less would be a travesty.

I just think it is silly that you completely deny that shooting a little open could potentially teach you something. Shooting a high capacity division to work on entries, exits and shooting sooner, and shooting with a dot a little bit could help you learn some more about shot calling or something.

This is unpossible.

Everyone knows open guns are magical and basically shoot themselves. Open shooters just feed them bullets and tell the gun when to get alphas. There's no way they could shoot without the gun doing all the work. Fake news.

Fast make ups too.

I appreciate seeing you apply the overarching SOTM theme from Open to Prod. I have to ask, how were the hits on the targets you took moving?

Kinda hit or miss. The last stage for instance, I shot the way I would with a major gun (aim off the NS, and keep moving). That resulted in 12A, 1B 7C. But it was the fastest time in the match, so even though I had bad hits I still did okay. The other example was the stage before the classifier (with the drop turner visible at rest), I ended up with 9A 1B 10C 1D. By far my worst hits of the match on any stage, but 2 seconds faster than the next guy ( B open shooter).

On the other side of the coin, the first stage (with the flop up) I got 19A 4C 1D, with 2 As on the flopper, and on the second and third stages I got 25A 6C and 25A 5C, respectively.

And I do wonder how much of my poor hits on some of those stages comes down to just not shooting this gun/irons at all. I've put probably 500 rounds or fewer through it since I got it. Two matches and half a training session worth.

Thanks doods. The one makeup I'm not happy about was the Texas Star stage at the beginning. I made up an alpha with an alpha on that far right paper the beginning of the stage.

Do you need those extra shots on paper?

If not you may have triggerslapulation and you might want to get that checked out.

All the makeups except on the one with the star at the beginning (T3 of that stage) helped me I believe. I don't know if they were necessarily worth it though in the C vs time spent for the makeup. That kind of math is a bit advanced for the likes of me.

Hardest part about shooting open is telling Your parents that You're gay.

Yet another that thinks by pretending to think open is dumb we won't see right through their actual desire to shoot a non-idiotic division. It's okay. We open shooters are actually quite accepting, come join us.

I tried the maths thing a few times and found makeups I would regularly take were almost never worth it. I have recently tried to abandon makeups unless its 2 D's or I think I might have missed.

That is definitely true with major, and I think it is probably true >50% of the time with minor, but I haven't personally done the math with minor scoring to know for sure. I don't doubt it though that it's not worth it.
