I was following up until cartridge bar. What’s a cartridge bar?

Every Tanfo should have this done the moment you recieve it. Since most weaponmakers do it at the factory.

File a 1/16” radius on that sharp corner at the bottom of the breechface, then polish the snot out of it and the bottom of the rib running toward the back of the slide.
I won an IDPA match once. It was neat.

Ah gotchya. I did round off that sharp corner.

I found this video showing a super slomo firing of a tanfo. Obviously not the same gun im having fits with but same design. It looks like the barrel of a tangfo drops rather violently and early in the firing process. Watch 45 seconds in to see the close up.

The hood of the barrel could be dragging the fired case low enough and early enough to slip off of the extractor. Certain extractors might be longer or shaped differently than others causing issues in some but not others. This is all rambling, pulling shit out of my ass theory right now but I think this might be whats happening. I will try to polish up and slightly relieve the edges of the barrel in these areas.

Have never owned a Tanfo and don’t plan on buying one anytime soon so take this for what it’s worth....

When my CZ does this it’s always because the extractor is dirty. You don’t necessarily have to take it out to clean it. Just push on the back of it (behind the pin) and hook a brush in around the claw.

I don’t fuck around with XP springs or trying to shape the claw anymore, just keep it clean.

My Czechmate suffered a case blowout at a match recently. 1st stage of a major match. I got a reshoot (long story) and finished the day with only one failure to extract (200 ish rounds).

When cleaning the gun later that night I found this....

this has happened in your CZ where a fired case stays entirely in the chamber?

Yes a dirty, worn, broken, or loose extractor can cause that issue. It is super weird thought that you aren't getting any stovepipes in addition to it

Make sure some joker didn't swap your slide for a .40, because then it wouldn't be production legal. That was a thing during the great 9mm Tanfo Drought of 2015 I hear.

Yep, in multiple guns too, Czechmate in 9mm & TS in Sig (funnily enough has never done it in the TS in .40). It's a real SOB to clear too cause the mag get's stuck in there.

I've played with XP springs and filing on the claw but now if it starts happening i just clean it and it goes away.

It's happened to my SIG P226 too. I traced the problem to a dirty extractor. I guess I need to clean it more often than every 10k rounds.

I had the claw portion of the extractor shear off on one of my 226's in a match last year. I give them a little more attention now.

After about 15k I started having the same problems.  I tried filing, polishing, swearing and ended up getting a new extractor and heavy duty extractor spring.  I polished the extractor (sides so it freely moves in the slide pivoting on  the pin) and my problems went away.  I've shot about 3k so far and no jams at all.

No one knows. You are either a CZ person or a Tanfo person.

I once read about a guy who tried to be good at both, but sadly his head exploded.

Now another head exploded. Austrian perfection is nowhere near the italian perfection of the czech perfection.
