1911s are going to dominate production just as much as they dominate ESP and SSP in IDPA.

Oh wait.

It's been 5 years or more since Ive been to an idpa match but 9mm 2011s were the top gun in esp locally.

So what your saying is the gun doesn't actually matter much at all but 95% of the shooters either are too dumb do know that or don't care and just want to spend their disposable income on cool guns.

So basically most of the equipment rules are actually not for competitive equity but to protect stupid shooters from spending money on stupid shit that won't help.

100% true. However, it is more fun to play with fancier guns.

If it doesn't matter at the top, and it doesn't matter at the bottom, wouldn't it follow that it doesn't matter in the middle?

People are lemmings. 5 years ago everyone "knew" you needed a striker fired gun in production. Everyone was shooting M&Ps to be "competitive."

My hand to god the first match I went to (Beretta 96) they told me 'Get an M&P'

Same person two years later

'Get a real gun like an STI'

It's not about winning, it's about emasculating your friends in front of their loved ones
