It's not fundamentally different but I know there are little gotchas in the rules that you wouldn't expect. Like on a weak hand table start you can touch the gun with your strong hand at all. Is there more stuff like that? I don't really know because I haven't bothered to look.

I shoot IPSC and even I forgot about that one. Could have done without that procedural at the Whirled Chute 🤦‍♂️

Apart from the equipment difference (most USPSA PD guns would not be IPSC PD legal) probably the main diff is the short cut rules.

Squeezing Lim guns & mags to fit the box and move holsters around is always fun.

No sight pictures gets the USPSA shooters every time.

Its a little comical that a lot of people think it is fundamentally different.

You just have to color inside the lines and all that.
I won an IDPA match once. It was neat.

I forgot about the box for Standard! And also no G34's in Production, but you can have a race holster. Makes sense.

So Outside of swapping out my ice magwell on the single stack, what else do I need to change to be “classic” legal. Is there an IPSC for dummies out there somewhere?

Thats it i think.

Its like standard division so has to fit the box. No through cuts on the slide and a 35mm magwell.

I think anything else goes. Can use a race holster if you want.

Check the slide lock to dust cover length. I thought they were different (or are measured differently).

Otherwise like Dan said, no “slide lightening” (loosely defined as no cuts that go all the way through), no weak hand thumb rests and 35mm max width on the magwell. And has to fit the box (in battery, mag inserted).

We have a range south of Chicago that is expanding like crazy (Aurora Sportsman Club). They have like 19 bays right now and are looking to expand to something crazy like 28 or 30. They even have a 600 yard range.

A USPSA club is just starting up, so it wont be anytime soon, but at least moves are being made at the correct facilities to offer up more locations for larger matches in the future.

If you build it...they will come...

Just sayin'.....

Better not take a sight picture or practice transitions from one target to another when the Make Ready command is given....from what I've heard.

Magwell and basepads are the two main changes for a USPSA single stack to IPSC classic. No weight limit and magnets and race holsters are ok, but they can get whinier about the distance-to-body stuff.

Some "must look like a 1911" language that's poorly defined and interpreted at the whim of the RO, but if you're good in USPSA, 99% chance it'll fly in IPSC.
