It's not fundamentally different but I know there are little gotchas in the rules that you wouldn't expect. Like on a weak hand table start you can touch the gun with your strong hand at all. Is there more stuff like that? I don't really know because I haven't bothered to look.


I shoot IPSC and even I forgot about that one. Could have done without that procedural at the Whirled Chute 🤦‍♂️

Apart from the equipment difference (most USPSA PD guns would not be IPSC PD legal) probably the main diff is the short cut rules.

Squeezing Lim guns & mags to fit the box and move holsters around is always fun.

No sight pictures gets the USPSA shooters every time.

Use the rules. Don't DQ someone who doesn't do anything DQable. -- Da Beard.

Its a little comical that a lot of people think it is fundamentally different.


You just have to color inside the lines and all that.
I won an IDPA match once. It was neat.

I forgot about the box for Standard! And also no G34's in Production, but you can have a race holster. Makes sense.
