Does anyone know of any physical differences between the two, or know of a way to tell which one is which?

I have a trade I am considering but I don’t know how to tell the difference and don’t need/want another type 1.

RMR is an operator gear that doesn't belong on a competition guns and forums. If you went to forums that deal with this tactical piece of kit daily, they could help, by pointing out that the most visible difference are the battery contacts.

I think the type one lacks manual dot intensity adjustment, the type two allows you to decide how bright you want the dot. It seems to me the type one would be less desirable since shooting from a dark area into a bright one usually means the dot is too dim at least in my humble experience.

Type 2's have two contacts in the battery compartment and little nubs to stop the battery from bouncing.  No external way to tell the difference.

Agreed that is not for competition..which is why it won’t be going on a competition gun..

I use a deltapoint pro for carry optics

This will be for dicking around on my monthly forced range day
