I have been out of the open game for a while, and do NOT plan on going back. I still have an open gun simply because the proper mall ninja hasn't come around to buy it.

however, I was recently speaking to a friend who is an avid open shooter who said a fair amount of people are starting to shoot glocks in 9mm major. when I still shot open this was apparently how you made a hand grenade according to the internet, and now its cool?

I understand wanting more rounds in a mag, but this was crazy talk a few years ago

what has changed?

With the right barrel and load there's no problem, but Glocks still suck as open guns.

Here you go homie, load up a few 9-grenades, get some tti base pads, a magpul magwell and one of these and you’re ready to ball in open with your glock 19x.

Those carry optic peasants and custom snobs will be totally jelly.

how many USPSA shooter ever try to be top 100 at anything?

the majority of the sport is club guys who will never leave their areas, even when given an invitation....so, for the majority? glock in open is fine.

you did see where I said "far from optimal"?

its funny you mention it...I honestly believe the 19x with a milled in deltapoint pro would be a good carry optics gun for me..full grip, short slide...I like the idea

but I am not buying anything with that cartoonish of a marketing campaign

Call me old fashioned or whatever, I’m just not on the slide mounted optic band wagon. The tech isn’t there. Battery life and durability are both failure points. They’ve been pounding this drum for the last 10 years and they still haven’t figured it out how to get a reliable optic on the market. In my opinion they should be going the batteryless route like an acog. Etched reticle, fiber optic, plus tritium. Price, custom/semi custom holsters, blah blah Timmy bullshit.

Don’t get me started on the 19 mullet either, that shit is counterproductive as far as a carry gat goes. you need a Canadian Tuxedo to hide that sucker. Do they serve poutine at your food court?

I am not a huge fan of the 19x either...but in its defense it was never created for concealment.

I have a duty glock 17 with a regular ass rmr06 that I put together in 2012...the dot has outlasted pretty much everything but the frame and the slide...is my luck typical? I have no idea, but I can tell you that the dot has been on the slide for 30,000-50,000 rounds and after adding the anti-flicker plate I have never had an issue outside of its 1 time a year battery replacement.

Glock thought process. Take possibly the #1 concealed carry hand gun in the world and make it less concealable. I seriously have no idea how this company is still in business.

Walk to the nearest door, pull your dick out and slam the door on it.

That's about how much sense it make to turn a glock into anopen gun.

If an open glock can make the 1 guy in the top 100 shooting it cry on national tv twice. It best to be avoided.

I don't really see them. Maybe it's a regional thing. More people showing up with Czechmate's recently than building an Open glock

I've never seen someone shooting a Glock in open that wasn't bumped to open. Who in the fuck would bother? Might as well break out a J frame if you're gonna go full potato.

Everyone I’ve seen with an Open Glock built or bought one because it was a better value than an STI for open, shot it for a few months, and then got an STI.

I built one, it ran fine. But Glock triggers are totally garbage and unreliable with anything but full power springs or soft as a pillow primers. Ended up selling it for what I had in it after like 4 months, bought a 2011.

I encourage everyone shooting Open, especially in NC, to immediately move to Glocks. It may take time to get used to the platform but please stick with it.

The platform? What kind of full timmy is that?
