I shot a section match last weekend. There were 12 shooters shooting Production. Last year there were 25, in 2016 - 45... You got the picture. The total number of shooters remains the same - 130-140. The same situation is in the other section - shot a match there two weeks ago.  Looks like CO and PCC have killed it.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a pretty weak section.

A lot of our old and/or fat PROD guys have moved to CO.  The good PROD shooters have remained in PROD.

"Production is dying" is a little too hyperbolic for my tastes at the present time; However, I'm sure HQ will find a way to fuck it up some more.

The first part is true here as well. The second is not. At least 3 GMs here are now shooting Limited and CO. Also a lot of new good shooters came to the sport shooting CO last year. Used to be PROD.

It's natural for noobs to think the only thing holding them back from the top 16 at Nationals is their gear, but until PCC and CO came along the only options for a noob in search of gear were to drop coin on a CZ / Tanfo or go balls-deep into an Open or Limited rig.

The bonus if they switch to CO or PCC is they can still feel good about sucking for another 6 months 'because new gear AND new division', plus no need to work on reloads-- which they blow with regularity, because noob.

Limited, Production then Open are the top three registered for NC. Open is much closer to Production's numbers this year than last IIRC.

Some left Production for CO, some flip back and forth. I don't think PCC pulled many.

Production is dumb.

Its a slap in the face to all restricted countries when americans CHOOSE to reload after 10 rounds.

fuck you! I choose to reload after 8. Reloading ability is a small part in overall performance. I sucked when I had 28 in my mag but everything feels like it has meaning now. That’s something the pcc guys will never understand

I choose to shoot production. I like reloading and the more complex stage planning that comes with the multiple reloads in production.

I have seen a decline in production shooters.

But it’s far from dying.

One of the reasons I shoot Open in NZ is to have more rounds in the mag 😎

Locally there may a little truth to the original post. We used to have a a large number of Production shooters. About half have switched to Limited and Open.

Production is dead? I have a better point. Who wants to chase expensive brass? Prod or carry optics all the way for me. PCC is still gay

Production was the biggest division at Area 8...

I'm switching back to Lim for next year though, not that any one cares but it's not because OMG production is dead

<edit> Actually Production and Lim were tied for the biggest

Our local matches regularly hit 150+ over the summer.

It's only natural that new shooters pick PCC, since that's the highway to GM.

Do you have to register on line first and then go to a waiting list???
