On the Delerium Red - delightfully NOT sweet, but with a strong esidual flavor/aroma of dark cherry. It lacks the tartness and funk of the wild yeastie beasties (brettanomyces, etc) and bacteria (pediococcus, lactobacillus).

Speaking of red, I think I'll have one of these tonight when I watch the Warriors finish off the Pelicans. They call it an "ultra mega mondo red ale."

^meh, just another hopped up beer

Pic makes it appear much darker than it actually is, an amber.

Last night:

Chimay-Rouge_red-cap_beer_900.jpg

Great. No bells and whistles, just an excellent tasting beer. Solid. As perfect as Chimay blue but less intense.

And:

Nice try. A little too much heat (10% woo!). Good but not great like the real deal.

Something a bit unordinary. This one had a clear honey taste, but a dryish aftertaste. Not too bad.

I haven’t seen that mead before. Dry good. Sweet icky.

+1 for Chimay Red.

Agree 100%.  Its not the Blue, but goes down smoother.

Wife came back with a Beliner Wesse from the grocery store: I really like this style and it’s not that easy to find.

Dry, Tart, just a hint of fruit residuals without sweetness. Like.

Not as intense as more traditional Berliner Weisses.

Saturday:

Piraat-e1405677919411.jpg

Pretty good but a little too much heat. Probably the hot ticket if you want to get smashed with a tasty Belgian.

Last night's beers:

gulden_draak_9000_grande.jpg

Good but a little too sweet and fruity.

It was OK. I should have drank it before the quad not after. Too much head, too persistent.

I dined at the first Norwegian Bocuse d'or winners restaurant a few years ago, at that time it was only about 500 USD for a dinner for two with wine included. Now it's about 450 each. The food was epic, and when we were done we were fucking drunk to. They filled the wine glasses with expensive wine constantly for 4 hours.

Sounds epic! I used to work at a Culinary Olympic Gold Medalist restaurant in the late 90’s. He would have foodies lined up to sample the wares.
