Here is my optics nats match footage. I haven't edited together the production match yet, once I get it done I will put it in this thread as well.

Major takeaways:

  • It was a good time. I shot like a dumbass day 1, which didn't help my finish, but it still ended up pretty decent.
  • Florida weather is brutal
  • Central Florida is pretty much the middle of nowhere
  • I felt the stages were a good blend of challenges, I enjoyed the standards/short courses a lot.
  • My club needs to get some big pieces of steel to put in front of swingers.
  • My steel shooting is still major-scrub level.
  • Need to focus on driving the gun to the center of the target, and not forgetting about offset on close targets.
  • Long range shooting kicked my ass again.

You have a very high score for somebody who makes so many mistakes.

Missed draw here, missed step there.  Extra shot, missed steel, etc.

Many of your competitors at your level don't make those mistakes....yet you are right there with them.

So the takeaway is you do the other things much better than them.

Most shooters about B level recognize to perform at a higher level they have to stop making mistakes.  And so you see as a shooter leaves A, and especially at M, they rarely, if ever (and almost never at GM) make a "mistake."

You are an aplication of the adjustment,  attitute, or mindset from being the National Champion.

And I remember when you shot that ugly CZ Limited with the checkering that hurt your soft hands  :)

I do make way too many mistakes, that is a fact. I chucked 3 magazines on reloads. I missed spots, fell out of positions, and had more makeups on steel than is even funny. Going into next season I am going to be trying to fix those problems which seem to persist for me. And improve my mental game/improve my attitude. Because I struggle badly in that area.

Top 10!  Awesome finish in a very deep field.

Even it is a retarded division.

I gotta echo what alfred salveti said. For a complete shitshow, that was a pretty good result. You looked like you were rushing, trying and hurrying, instead of trusting your training. It's exciting to think how good you will be when you let the reloads happen in your subconscious, and watch the dot lift from the steel instead of leaving when you start pulling the trigger. Honestly, I don't blame you tho. You made a major breakthrough this year with a dominant win at A1. Last year, you were just some pretty good shooter that was funny and cool, and now all of the sudden you are national (world?) class..... Get used to it. You have earned it. Congrats on a great finish and a great learning experience.

Thanks dooder... I definitely need to get the mental management in check as well as start making fewer mistakes. The number of mistakes I make is truly unacceptable at this level, IMO. It feels like if I could reign some of that in, that I could do much better than I do currently/have done this season.

Thanks again for the kind words, I appreciate it.
