We almost tossed that stage due to the way it was being gamed.
Not to be confused with ZachJ

allowing that kind of crap was imho a truly terrible interpretation of the rules.

That's how we get crap like 'Forbidden Actions' and 'Off Limits Lines' in the rulebook (which are both relatively recent additions, you whippersnappers)

Of course were I the RM I'd probably throw the Forbidden Action card on that kind of shenanigan.

Another example of a poorly written stage brief

Forbidden actions can only be used for safety issues.

It's not a bad WSB either because there's nothing you can write into one that would prevent this.

It's stage designs that didn't have enough gamers vetting it. Was McBurnett the RM?

This.

When I ran a local club, I used to have the gamiest motherfucker I knew walk every stage ahead of time. He knew the rulebook backwards and forewards, and he would exploit it to his advantage regularly at Level IIs and above.  After his assessments were complete, I would adjust accordingly.

When planning, remember that the best game warden is a former - or current - poacher.  I recommend using your slipperiest Open and PCC fags as a resource.

Easy for the RM to declare safety issue on that one if they wanted.

Declaration of a Forbidden Action may be made to prohibit competitor movement which is likely to result in an unsafe condition

"Some moron could easily trip over it or fall off and the RO can't be there", done.  Doesn't have to be actually unsafe per-se, just 'likely to".

Yeah, it's a stretch, but a good RM's got some gamer in them too.  Even if the shooter wins the arb, by then the stage will just get tossed.

disagree. IMHO it's a retarded interpretation of a rule that is causing the problem, and one that is fortunately getting fixed. I have nothing against gamers doing real gamer stuff, but only an idiot could ever have come with an interpretation that would allow standing on wall supports outside the obviously intended shooting area.

If the wall is in the shooting area the wall is in play. I don't like it either but that's how it is and that's why the rule change is coming.

We should have just always been like the French and made it illegal to so much as think about exiting the shooting area. As a red-blooded American, I tend to try to do whatever a Frenchman would do. Just like most of the rest of my shooting friends.

(Honestly though, I do think the sport would be improved if we couldn’t leapfrog around the stage to our hearts content and had to color inside the lines.)
I won an IDPA match once. It was neat.

Easy fix during setup is to run a fault line a couple inches in front of the wall so it's completely out of bounds. Stage is then shot as intended. It's a competition between shooters and stage designers too, embrace the competition.

I guess he thinks it’s cool to get away with shit like that, but it’s just another form of cheating. If he can live with it so can I
