USPSA Official Ammo goes minor at Nationals

Tim Herron made 161.1 PF on the Chrono stage at Nats, which can easily be verified via practiscore. Since he shot the Official Ammo o’ USPSA, he got to keep his Major scoring.
I have no desire to roast Tim here - he’s a good guy.
But that’s certainly is both amusing and interesting.

cute...exactly how the fuck does that work?
it's not rocket surgery. if you don't reload, don't have a chrono, can't ship ammo, whatever, you can just buy the official match ammo that is certified and not have to worry.
some guns are faster than others. some batches of powder or primers may be slightly different, whatever.

And... Tim was beaten by more than a dozen guys of similar skill who shot hotter ammo.it's not rocket surgery. if you don't reload, don't have a chrono, can't ship ammo, whatever, you can just buy the official match ammo that is certified and not have to worry.

I’m keeping this example in my pocket. Next time some Production novice wants to insist that loading 160gr slugs at paintball velocities is the key to improving his scores...
I couldn’t feel or see the difference between 130PF and 137PF with the same 124gr bullet being pushed by the same powder. The difference is only 56 fps. They were indistinguishable during a doubles drill.

i meant how the fuck can you chrono minor but make major cause the mfr said it was major.

for someone shooting a 2011 open gun weak ammo often isnt an advantage anyway, most open shooters I know shoot 9 major in the 170-175pf range because you need the gas to work the comp, so the gun shoots flatter with hotter ammo. With the czechmate on the other hand around 165pf is nice.

The match we are talking about was the single-stack national championship. Oops, that’s Classic Nationals for you Europeans.

I have to ask, if you're not trying to slag Tim why are you bringing his name up?
Is he the only one who didn't make PF using official ammo (or whatever it's called)?
Come to think of it, who gives a shit if anyone failed to meet PF with the official ammo? It's not like they pulled bullets and dumped some powder out.

by reading the rulebook. the whole point of certified match ammo is that the competitor doesn't have to worry about it.

i can feel a difference of 3-5pf.... but it doesn't make any difference to my shooting. Even 20pf doesn't seem to really make a difference, so wutever.

Weird, I was just remembering the World Shoot ammo debacle that helped spawn this "official match ammo is always above power floor" rule. It's a good rule when people have to fly to a high round count match and can't take the ammo with them. Or they have to travel to a fucked up state where they can't buy ammo (PASA, IL).

Is this thread the best we can do? This shit is dumber than using official match ammo. I guess those were the good old days.

Extra revenue for the match directors brother in law's ammo company from people that think 3 points less PF is going to push them over the top... The only worry is if it runs and hits worth a damn.
I guess Federal has caught on.
